This facility is for adult inmates.

The Putnam County FL Jail is a medium-security detention center located at 130 Orie Griffin Blvd Palatka, FL which is operated locally by the Putnam County Sheriff's Office and holds inmates awaiting trial or sentencing or both. Most of the sentenced inmates are here for less than two years. Putnam County accepts inmates from surrounding towns, municipalities, the US Marshal's Service and the Palatka Police Department who do not have their own long-term lock-up.

INMATE PROGRAMS

• AA/NA Classes – Alcoholics Anonymous, Narcotics Anonymous meetings every weekend (Sundays 9:30 AM.)
• Celebrate Recovery Program – Religious based substance abuse program that uses religion to help reach individuals suffering from addiction.
• Bible Study Program – Religious Services meetings (Tuesdays and Thursdays 7:00 PM.)
• Church Program – Church on Saturday mornings 10:00 AM.
• Re-entry Program – Providing re-entry resources for Inmates coming out of the jail/prison system. Help to find jobs, clothes, food and help with state programs. (Wednesdays all day)
• GED Program – Help for qualified Inmates obtaining their GED diploma (Person must be under 21 years of age and sentenced to at least three months to county jail time.)
• Mental Health Program – Teaching Inmates life skills and coping skills in regards to mental health. Also, creating working relationships with individuals who may need services when released. (Wednesdays 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM)
• Parenting Program – Teaching methods and processes to positive parenting along with other like skills. (Starting with Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare soon)
• Batterers Intervention Program – Discusses methods of anger management and other life skills. (Starting with Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare soon)
• Substance Abuse Program– Utilizes many tools and methods to assist the getting Inmates the assistance they need to combat substance abuse. (Starting with Stewart-Marchman-Act Behavioral Healthcare soon)

The Putnam County Jail contracts inmate medical services through Southern Correctional Medicine of Waycross, Georgia. Southern Correctional Medicine has served correctional institutes as a medical provider for more than 20 years. They provide 24-hour medical coverage at the Putnam County Jail. Visiting Hours

Visitation is conducted Tuesday through Saturday at the following times:

• 7:30 am – 8:25 am
• 8:30 am – 9:25 am
• 9:30 am – 10:25 am
• 10:30 am – 11:25 am
• 1:00 pm – 1:55 pm
• 2:00 pm – 2:55 pm
• 3:00 pm – 3:55 pm

Visitation Rules

• Inmates must submit a visitation list for approval before visitors can register. Visitors not on the list will not be approved and may not schedule visits.
• All visitors are required to register online at visitinmate.putnamsheriff.org
• Visitation will be scheduled, orderly and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
• Visitors are not permitted to arrive more than 15 minutes early. Any visitor arrives more than 15 minutes late will have to reschedule.
• No cellphones, cameras or any other recording devices are allowed at visitation. Anyone caught with such devices in the visitation area will receive an automatic 30-day suspension of their visitation privileges.
• All visits will be monitored and recorded.

The director of corrections or designee may deny visitation to an inmate or visitor to maintain the safety, security or good order of the facility.

All visitors over the age of 13 must produce a valid, state-issued photo identification in the form of:

• Driver’s License, Identification Card or Military ID Card
• School or employer identification cards are not sufficient for identification and visitors utilizing these will be refused admittance.

All minor children, age 17 and under, will be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. Minor children will not be left unattended on the premises while an adult visits. This includes the lobby, grounds, parking lot or motor vehicle as described in Florida statute 316.6135.

Persons presenting themselves as the minor’s parent or legal guardian must provide legal documentation supporting the claim of custodial responsibility (i.e. – birth certificate, adoption papers, documentation from court indicating custodial responsibility, etc.).

Persons under the age of 17 shall be treated as an adult and permitted as an adult when visitor shows proof of marriage to the inmate or proof of emancipation.

• The visitation area is limited in space. Therefore, not more than two visitors are permitted per inmate at one time (2 adults or 1 legal guardian with 1 minor child).
• Visitors may not visit with more than one inmate each day except in the case where immediate family relationship can be established.
• No sharing of visits between inmates is allowed. Sharing a visit with another inmate will result in termination of the visit and possible visitation suspension.
• Former inmates must be out of custody for at least 90 days before being approved to visit an inmate.
• Smoking, eating or drinking is prohibited in the visitation area.
• The behavior of visitors and inmates will be closely monitored. Loud speech, boisterousness, obscene behavior or language will not be tolerated and may result in termination of visit.
• Visitation may be terminated at any time at the discretion of sheriff’s office staff.
• Visitors suspected of being under the influence will be asked to leave.
• The following items are prohibited in the facility by visitors: weapons, tobacco products, drugs, drug paraphernalia or any other item deemed contraband.
• Any visitor that disrupts visitation will be asked to leave.
• Visitors should not leave their belongings or valuables unattended. Sheriff’s office personnel are not responsible for property belonging to a visitor.

DRESS CODE

• No short, shorts. Shorts must fall to just above the knee.
• No short dresses. They must fall to just above the knee.
• Shirts and blouses must have sleeves.
• No see-through or revealing clothing.
• No low cut clothing. The bottom of the shirt must fall below the beltline.
• No skin-tight clothing.
• No sagging pants. Pants must be worn above the hips. If necessary, a belt should be used.
• No visible underwear.

Make sure not to schedule visits during the times Inmate Workers are working. The inmate is responsible for letting you know these times.
